The Robert Gore Rifkind Center for German Expressionist Studies at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is seeking a part-time Librarian to manage the center's library.

The Robert Gore Rifkind Center for German Expressionist Studies is a non-circulating research facility devoted to the study of the Expressionist movement, which flourished in Germany during the early twentieth century.

The center houses a collection of approximately 5,000 prints and drawings and a catalogued library of more than 6,000 volumes.

The Librarian will develop, organize, and maintain the library collection so that it is accessible and relevant to the center's holdings and the research needs of the museum staff and outside researchers. The Librarian will also catalog new acquisitions, assist staff and patrons with research queries, and supervise visiting scholars.

The ideal candidate will have an MLIS and/or an MA in Art History, a working knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, and MARC format, research library experience, and experience handling rare books and prints. Fluency in German required.
