Visual Resources Specialist
University of Utah, Department of Art/Art History. The full-time staff
position involves oversight of department image resources (slide,
electronic) in Mac environment. Salary, benefits competitive.
Responsibilities: consult with faculty to plan and implement transition from
analog to digital teaching; develop and manage digital resources; establish
technical and archival protocols; maintain analog collections; assist
faculty in using image databases; supervise student assistants.
Qualifications: BA in art history required, MA preferred; MLIS a plus.
Minimum 2 years experience in image resource management in academic or
analogous work environment; familiarity with current digital standards and
copyright issues. Proven experience with graphics software (PhotoShop,
Dreamweaver) and hardware (slide scanner, flatbed/transmissive scanner,
copystand, film/digital cameras) and basic office applications (FileMaker
Pro, Word, Excel). Reading knowledge of at least two foreign languages
desirable. Demonstrated success in initiating, managing, and completing
projects. Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
