Catalog/Serials Librarian

The Ryerson & Burnham Libraries seeks an experienced Catalog/Serials librarian. Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the incumbent will perform original and copy cataloging of serials in a variety of languages and formats; manage the serials budget, serials selection and vendor relations; serve as trainer and resource for the serials copy cataloger; continuously assess and evaluate serials policies and procedures; plan and implement strategies to improve quality of services and increase productivity.

Required qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited library school program; minimum of two years experience working with serials in a research library; knowledge and expertise in appropriate cataloging, authority and holdings standards; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to initiate, plan, and carry out projects, both independently and as a member of a team; excellent oral and written communication skills; an awareness and knowledge of emerging trends in resource description; supervising and training experience; demonstrated skills in management and interpersonal relationships; reading knowledge of at least one modern European language. Educational background in art history preferred
