Professional Bio
For over forty years, Gregory Most has had a professional career in visual resource collections beginning at the Cleveland Museum of Art as a photograph librarian, then at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as their first professional slide librarian, and since 1992 at the National Gallery of Art where he is chief of the Department of Image Collections and oversees the largest art and architecture image archive in the USA with over 16 million images. He is a former president of the Art Libraries Society of North America and currently serves as President of Pharos, the International Association of Photo Archives. Gregory has been a member of ARLIS/NA since 1985. His research concerns the printmakers of Atelier 17, especially the American artist Roderick Fletcher Mead.
