Professional Bio
Sara Mautino earned her undergraduate degree in English Language Arts from the University of North Florida in 2006. In 2015 she earned her Master of Science in Library and Information Science with a concentration in Archives from Drexel University. She has been a professional librarian for nine years including five years managing elementary school libraries and three years in public libraries. Before joining the OSU family she was the Program Coordinator at an exurban library system in Tennessee where she focused on engagement and community enrichment and education.
While finishing her MSLIS she worked at the United States Air Force Academy library system supporting the Preparatory Students. Sara’s professional focus has largely been as a Digital Literacy Media Coordinator helping to build a new model of school librarianship in the state of North Carolina. There she blended traditional librarian skills with innovative 21st century ed-tech mentorship. She transformed a Title I, chronically under-performing, elementary school into a model school for blended learning. She led the transition from a school with very little classroom technology to a successful 1:1 iPad learning environment. The transformation was supported with her extensive training which included a residency in Cupertino, CA where she received training at Apple headquarters on how to best integrate Apple products into the school setting. Following this training, she earned her Apple Professional Learning Specialist certificate.
Sara’s broad experience in a myriad of library settings lends itsellf to reinvigorating the School of Architecture library program by infusing it with fresh ideas for student engagement with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in order to reach those non-traditional students, 1st generation students, and students from marginalized communities.
