Diversity & Inclusion Committee Webinar with Sofia Leung
This interactive presentation by Sofia Leung will provide a quick overview of how white supremacy and racism underpin current library and cultural heritage systems. Participants will begin to understand how their own identities and organizational cultures interact with these larger systems of oppression.
Sofia Leung is a first-generation Chinese American librarian, facilitator, and educator and the principal of Do Better, Be Better LLC. Her work employs Critical Race Theory and Emergent Strategy principles. She is the co-editor of Knowledge Justice: Disrupting Library and Information Studies Through Critical Race Theory (MIT Press, 2021). She holds a Master’s in Library and Information Science and a Master’s in Public Administration, both from the University of Washington in Seattle, and a B.A. in English from Barnard College.
