The ARLIS/NA International Relations Committee (IRC) announced the 2020 Study Tour to Japan from October 17-29.
The IRC invites members to save the date for the 2020 IRC Study Tour to Japan. Our first Study Tour to Asia will offer in-depth visits to renowned sites in Tokyo and Kyoto such as the Tokyo National Museum, National Diet Library, Tokyo University of the Arts, To-ji, and the International Research Center for Japanese Studies. The dates of the tour will be October 17-29, including travel and free days on October 17-18, the program from October 19-27, and an optional excursion to the island of Naoshima, known for its contemporary art museums, on October 27-28. For those electing to go to Naoshima, October 29 will be a return travel day.
A detailed itinerary and cost estimates will be available in February 2020 on the ARLIS/NA website. Registration will open in May. The tour will be limited to 16 ARLIS/NA members and applications will be received on a “first-come, first-served” basis, so please apply promptly to reserve your space. One scholarship will be offered to a deserving ARLIS/NA early-career member.
The IRC and our Japanese colleagues have been working to organize a 素晴らしい日程 (subarashii nittei = fabulous itinerary). Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the libraries, art, architecture, and culture of Japan!
